NYFW SP11: Dennis Basso

Dennis Basso's SS11 fantasy-ish collection appears to have been inspired by Alice in Wonderland, only instead of white rabbits and mad hatters he had chinchillas and "mad" alligator.

The structured paillettes dresses were INSANE - for a second, I thought that we were looking at patent leather! The color story was an array of soft blues, creams, periwinkle and baby's breath sorbets with pops of chocolate browns. I especially loved the ombre combos-a nice break from all of the white designers have been showing for Spring.

I'm a leather and fur girl so I died when out walked the Russian sable & alligator shoulder ruffle not to mention the silk mesh jacket coupled with a lux vanilla chinchilla.

I also thought that the python hobos & the Snakeskin clutches, were the perfect addition to whatever ensemble Basso paired them with.

On a separate note, I will always remember this show as; this was the first time that I was assigned a first row seat - there was a name tag sitting on top of my program - AND IT SAID SAM JONES!!!!

NYFW SS11: DANIELLA KALLMEYER

Words can't even begin to express the magic of this evening.  Daniella Kallmeyer's SS11 presentation was undoubtedly spectacular!

D.K. seemed to effortlessly capture the epitome of Old World Hollywood coupled with a flirty 50's Glamour. From the grandiose glistening crystal chandelier & the Etta James remix playing in the background to her chic ladylike peek-a-boo dresses; she nailed it with precise execution.

I said it once and I'll say it again; Daniella Kallmeyer is going to be a household name in the immediate future. She instinctively knows how to cultivate the perfect balance of Ying + Yang. -Kudos.

Powerhouses Fern Mallis and Kelly Cutrone were there to show their support but it didn't just end there; before the show ended Cutrone single handily created a look book for Daniella (in a matter of minutes) by orchestrating the perfect impromptu photo shoot. Her truly selfless act inspired me & has given me an even higher degree of respect and admiration for her. Kelly Cutrone is epic.
